Installation Service

On Sunday, October 12, 2014  at both worship services, we will be celebrating the constancy of God’s Word at COBC. Dr. Greg Behle, our interim pastor prior to Andy Walker and currently Professor of Christian Education at Master’s College, will be here to help us exalt Christ, the Living Word and Head of the Church, by honoring Pastor Andy Walker for 23 years of faithful preaching, installing Pastor Brent Whitney in his new position as Senior Pastor, and charging Pastor Nathan Hiner and Pastor Walker in their new roles as Associate Pastor and Pastor Emeritus. It will be a time to praise God for all He has accomplished through the ministry of the Word at COBC. Find out more about Dr. Greg Behle on Linked In.

ISO of a New Leader for Senior Saints

The Senior Saints are looking for a new person or couple to take over the Senior Saints Ministry. Alfonso and Herminia are willing to train you. Contact 661.972.5572.

About Senior Saints

The purpose of the Senior Saints Ministry is to provide an opportunity for all senior saints to come together to develop relationships through a God-glorifying, guided fellowship. We provide the opportunity through monthly gatherings where planned group activities are scheduled. These activities consist of game nights, movie nights, visits to points of interest, scripture moments, and outreach activities. When we meet locally, we always include potluck meals to share our favorite dishes.

The Senior Saints Ministry is a committee-run ministry that consists of very special individuals that have volunteered extra time to develop and organize annual fellowship activities. The committee coordinates all functions of the ministry and schedules and prepares monthly activity events for our gatherings.

I hope to see you at our monthly Senior Saints meetings. Join us as we continue to be doers of God’s will through friendships and relationships. If you have any questions, please give me a call.

Senior Saints Ministry Leader

The primary mission of this school is to educate, promote, establish, and equip students in the classical approach to education in light of a Christian world view grounded in the Old and New Testaments. The mission of the school is to educate through the classical approach to ensure that our Western heritage is not lost. This will be accomplished through association with other classical schools in the Association of Classical Christian Schools. Through various means, we will seek an educational standard for a unified and directed approach to classical and Christian learning.

Our mission is also to teach through a methodology known as the Trivium (grammar, logic and rhetoric), which is the educational and classical foundation of our western culture. We believe that God will bless this approach as He has in the past, as long as it follows the principles of His Word.

We believe that Christianity must be studied in light of its impact on Western culture, and that it must be a part of every subject. In recognizing that our cultural heritage is from God, we do not idolize it but we ground all that we seek to do upon the revelation of God, both in creation and Scripture, with the former being interpreted by the latter. As a classical and Christian school, we are seeking to integrate all our teaching around the revealed Word of God.

Grief Share

Grief Share presents a special Grief Share meeting  “Surviving the Holidays” on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30pm.  More about Surviving the Holidays – In past years, the Christmas holiday season may have been a time of great anticipation and excitement … but this year, the prospect of facing the holidays without your loved one may cause anxiety and dread. You are not alone. Here at Grief Share you can connect with support, encouragement, and advice to survive the holidays.

Grief Share started a new session on August 19, 2014 at 6:30pm in the Conference Room but you can join any time! Session 2 in 2014 goes from August 19 to December 1, 2014.

GriefShare normally meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm in the Conference Room at COBC. Find Help, Hope and Healing! Join any time. Please call 822-1379 to check on the schedule. Parking is available in the rear of the building. We look forward to your attendance as you heal from your grief. We love you!

No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. It can make feeling optimistic about the future seem impossible. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

That’s one reason for Grief Share, a special support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. It’s a place where many people have found that they can begin putting their lives back together again.

Grief Share features nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery topics. Sessions include:

  1. Living with Grief
  2. The Journey of Grief
  3. The Effects of Grief
  4. When Your Spouse Dies
  5. Your Family and Grief
  6. Why?
  7. The Uniqueness of Grief, Part 1
  8. The Uniqueness of Grief, Part 2
  9. God’s Prescription for Grief
  10. Stuck in Grief
  11. Top Twenty Lessons of Grief, Part 1
  12. Top Twenty Lessons of Grief, Part 2
  13. Heaven

Each session is “self-contained” so that you don’t feel obligated to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you attend.

Griefshare meets in the Conference Room at Country Oaks Baptist Church, Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. For more information, call 822-1379.

Senior Pastor,  Brent Whitney Explains His Vision for Our Teens

The pastors have decided to use the resources of the church to promote family worship and spiritual growth within the home by equipping parents to be the “pastors of the home.” Therefore, we do not offer a weekly “youth group” or a place for teens to “hang out” at church. Instead, we encourage teens to socialize and fellowship with all Christians, young and old alike so that they can benefit from the wisdom of more mature believers and grow in humility and gentleness as they minister to the needs of little children. Though we are not against age segregated fellowship, we believe that the church should play a more limited role in providing such opportunities.
